Sasha participates in the 5th Annual Health Empowered Beauty Fashion Show After a bad break-up with an ex-boyfriend, Sasha found herself homeless at 21 years old. “My son's father and I broke up. Since then, I lived on couches,” Sasha said. She slept in the living rooms of her family and friends for seven years, until she had no one to turn to. Sasha says she was unable to continue to stay with her family due to disagreements that they had. “My mother passed away four years ago and I didn’t have family that was willing to open their doors. I had no other place to go,” she said. With her options and resources depleted, Sasha decided to seek help at a women’s shelter, which eventually lead her to Susan’s Place. Sasha felt that Susan’s Place would be the safest place for her. Although she has only been living in Susan’s Place for a few months, she says that she “can see that people are kind.” “Ms. Mecca and the staff are awesome,” she said. Sasha also appreciates the su
